About the Role

The Director of Strategic Finance plays a key role in supporting enterprise growth and performance across Sound Physicians by shaping the financial strategy behind complex, system-level partnerships. Through advanced financial modeling, scenario analysis, and pricing strategy, this role helps evaluate new opportunities, inform strategic decisions, and optimize performance across service lines for larger health system relationships. This includes analyzing and synthesizing performance across existing system partnerships, spanning Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, and Anesthesia, to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform both operational and strategic actions.

Working closely with leaders across Business Development, Finance, Operations and Clinical teams, this individual helps ensure alignment between growth strategy and operational execution. As a newer and evolving role, the Director will operate with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility, helping to define processes and priorities while delivering forward-looking insights, supporting system-level growth initiatives, and enabling more informed, data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead financial modeling and pricing strategy for complex Health System partnerships, including multi-site and multi-service line arrangements
  • Support system retention, renewal, and service line expansion efforts through financial evaluation, scenario modeling, and alignment on key assumptions and risks
  • Serve as the financial lead in consolidating and analyzing performance across System partners, including volume, productivity, cost trends and other KPI’s
  • Partner with Business Development to translate performance insights into actionable recommendations that inform strategy and decision-making
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between financial strategy, operational execution, and partner commitments
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning for system partnerships, incorporating key operational and financial drivers
  • Identify and drive opportunities to improve financial and operational performance across system partnerships, including margin enhancement and cost optimization initiatives
  • Partner in developing integrated performance narratives (clinical, operational, and financial) for executive forums, including JOCs and key partner meetings
  • Support senior leadership in client-facing discussions by providing clear financial perspectives and strategic insights

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong understanding of provider-based financial models, including staffing, productivity, payer mix, and cost drivers
  • Experience supporting complex health system partnerships, new site development, or multi-site operations
  • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical and operational inputs into financial models and actionable insights
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and communicate complex financial concepts clearly across clinical, operational, and executive audiences
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or related field required;
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare finance, including FP&A, strategic finance, provider operations finance, or healthcare consulting

Salary Range

  • $160,000 - $210,000 annually. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience, geographical location, and size/complexity of the program being supported.
