About the Role:
As the Director of Clinical Performance for Emergency Medicine, you serve as a strategic clinical leader to our Divisional Chief Medical Officer’s (DCMO) shaping the performance trajectory of Sound’s Emergency Medicine service line. You will leverage deep EM expertise, data‑driven insights, and strong stakeholder relationships to influence and elevate our Patient-First Culture of Excellence performance across diverse hospital environments.
The Director partners strategically to support Division CMO’s and Medical Directors leading monthly practice performance reviews to develop solutions through data, insights, and thoughtful innovation to meet each hospital’s unique challenge and goals. In this client facing role the Director participates in building and maintaining strong relationships with partners across Sound Emergency Programs and with external clients through our Sound Practice Solutions (SPS).
The role functions remotely with travel for site visits as indicated based on site specific program needs, and to lead standardization of clinical performance practices across our EM programs. Travel For SPS consultations expected travel is 2-3 times during each engagement
The EM Director of Clinical Performance reports to the Chief of Staff or designee.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
Clinical & Program Operational Strategy Leadership
- Collaborate with DCMO & Medical Director on execution of clinical performance strategies aligned with EM priorities and practice goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve clinical workflows, operational efficiency, and care delivery performance.
- Partner with operational and clinical leaders to ensure strategies are scalable, sustainable, and measurable.
Insight‑Driven Performance Improvement
- Leverage clinical, operational, and financial data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Translate complex performance data into clear insights and actionable plans for leaders and frontline teams.
- Establish frameworks for performance monitoring, accountability, and ongoing optimization.
Client & Stakeholder Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, DCMO’s and Medical Directors and other internal stakeholders.
- Communicate clinical performance insights, recommendations, and outcomes effectively across audiences.
- Foster collaborative partnerships that align stakeholder expectations with operational realities and performance goals.
Implementations Clinical Insight Leadership
- Provide clinical performance expertise during implementations, launches, and transitions.
- Partner with implementation teams to ensure programs operational and clinical best practices status to align with Sound EM.
- Support change management efforts to accelerate adoption and long-term success.
Sound Practice Solutions (SPS) Leadership
- Co-lead with DCMO, Phase 1 site assessments, Phase 2 deployment for operational excellence of Sound Practice Solutions initiatives.
- Collaborate with client teams to align SPS recommendations to achieve performance objectives of client.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, standardization, and scalable best practices within SPS.
Enterprise Patient-Frist Culture of Excellence Ambassador
- Champion a Patient-Frist Culture of Excellence focused on patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Promote best practices that enhance quality outcomes, clinician experience, and patient satisfaction.
- Model collaborative leadership and reinforce organizational values across teams and partnerships.
Organizational Performance & Accountability
- Define performance metrics and accountability structures supporting enterprise goals.
- Drive disciplined execution through clear expectations, follow-through, and measurable outcomes.
- Support leadership teams in building a culture of ownership, accountability, and performance transparency.

Knowledge:
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Active RN license
Experience:
- 5 years emergency nursing experience, leadership experience
- Strong, clinical knowledge of emergency practice: medical, nursing, risk, EMTALA, compliance
- Knowledge of Process Improvement methodology
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Salary Range
- This position offers an annual salary range of $120,000-$150,000. Exact salary will depend on the candidate’s experience, education and geographic location. This position is eligible for additional compensation beyond base pay.
