Job Summary
Impel’s AI and merchandising software solutions touch millions of consumers around the world, making data privacy and regulatory compliance key to the success of our business. We are growing fast and ready to bring on an experienced legal expert to take charge of privacy and compliance efforts company-wide, as well as assist with contract reviews and other legal matters. You will collaborate with product owners, managers, C-suite executives, and outside counsel.

Essential Functions of the Job
- Become the go-to internal expert for laws and regulations involving data privacy.
- Manage all aspects of contracts, including preparing, revising, negotiating, examining, and analyzing the documents. Typically, these contracts will involve the sale or purchase of products, goods, supplies, services, or materials.
- Maintain the company’s privacy policy, cookie notice, terms and conditions and data processing addendum.
- Ensure vendors conform to the company’s privacy and data protection requirements.
- Create, update, and implement policies related to regulations such as GDPR, CPRA and state privacy laws.
- Create, update, and implement policies related to email and text message regulations such as TCPA and the CAN-SPAM Act.
- Collaborate with product owners and engineers to ensure privacy and data protection requirements are taken into account.
- Investigate privacy incidents.
- Work with external counsel in the event it is needed.
- JD degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in commercial contracts, privacy, data governance, risk management or a related field
- Knowledge of GDPR, CPRA, TCPA and state privacy and compliance laws
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Thorough understanding of contract law.
- Great attention to detail
- The ability to learn quickly and master internal contracts and management systems.
- The ability to manage competing demands and work well under pressure.
- Organizational skills
- Ability to provide a writing sample
