About the role

The Technical Implementation Manager serves as the client-facing technical lead for professional services initiatives at Vastian. Reporting to the Implementation team, this role bridges Sales, Implementation, and Engineering while owning all client-facing technical engagements tied to professional services.

This individual leads discovery, scoping, pricing, and alignment for initiatives such as document migrations, data imports, API integrations, SSO configuration, and enterprise account restructuring.

The role does not require software development expertise, but does require strong technical fluency, commercial awareness, and the ability to translate complex backend work into clear, structured client communication.

The Technical Implementation Manager ensures Implementation Managers remain focused on application configuration and training, while owning technical professional services intake, scoping, pricing, and ongoing client-facing technical representation throughout the engagement lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Discovery & Scoping

  • Lead pre-sale and post-sale client discussions related to technical professional services.
  • Translate client needs into structured, bounded scopes with clear assumptions, dependencies, and constraints.
  • Evaluate feasibility, risk, and complexity before advancing requests to Engineering.

Client-Facing Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for active professional services projects.
  • Represent Engineering in client meetings, communicating status, sequencing, risks, and technical considerations clearly and confidently.
  • Maintain alignment with Engineering to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely client communication.

Commercial Alignment & Pricing

  • Collaborate with Engineering to estimate effort, scope, and delivery timelines.
  • Develop pricing proposals in partnership with Sales.
  • Ensure scopes remain aligned to approved service offerings and prevent scope drift.

Governance & Handoff

  • Transition approved projects to the Technical Project Manager for execution and backlog management.
  • Provide clear documentation and acceptance criteria.
  • Remain available as the client-facing technical authority to support issue resolution and scope clarification during project execution.

Scope of Services

This role supports professional services initiatives including, but not limited to:

  • Document and data migration
  • API and integration work
  • SFTP/HTTPS data exchange
  • SSO and identity management
  • Account standardization and restructuring

Qualifications

Required

  • 3-6 years of experience in SaaS implementation, technical consulting, or systems integration
  • Experience leading client-facing technical discovery conversations
  • Strong familiarity with APIs, integrations, data migration, and identity management concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Healthcare, laboratory, or regulated industry experience
  • Exposure to enterprise SaaS sales cycles
  • Familiarity with structured project governance models

What Success Looks Like

  • Technical requests are clearly scoped before Engineering engagement
  • Sales receives structured pricing guidance
  • Cross-functional coordination reduces ambiguity, rework, and delivery risk
  • Clients experience confident, well-managed technical consulting engagements from discovery through delivery
